The Active Ingredients of Mosquito Barrier
Our barriers are made of effective active ingredients that will keep mosquitoes away, and they’re easy to use – place them around your home or garden. Plus, they’re affordable and easy to maintain, so you’ll be able to keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay for years to come.
1. Garlic
Garlic is a powerful pest deterrent and mosquito barrier. It is being used for centuries to keep away pests like mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, and other blood-sucking insects. The pungent odor of garlic repels mosquitoes. They do not like to be around it because it makes them feel uncomfortable, and when they get too close, they get irritated by the smell.
2. Citric Acid
Citric acid is a natural ingredient found in lemons, limes, and many other fruits and vegetables. It’s also an additive in many foods, drinks, and cosmetics. Citric acid is an excellent mosquito repellent because it has a strong scent that irritates mosquitoes’ sensitive noses so much that they avoid your yard altogether!
3. Potassium Sorbate
Potassium sorbate is a salt derived from sorbic acid, a naturally occurring preservative in berries such as blueberries, cranberries, and raspberries. It also has antibacterial properties to help prevent mold growth on fruit trees or shrubs planted near your house.
How to Use Mosquito Barrier
It’s time to start using your mosquito barrier! First, you’ll need to fill a pump up sprayer with clean water. We recommend using Hudson Style pump up sprayer, available at most hardware and garden stores. The wand on this model can hold 2 to 4 gallons of water, which is plenty for spraying your entire yard.
Next, make sure your sprayer is set on the lowest setting possible. The lower the pressure setting on your sprayer, the better it will be at reaching the mosquitoes that are hiding in tall grasses or other thick vegetation—and that’s what we’re after today!
When you’re ready to start spraying, hold the wand about two inches from where you want it to land and begin moving it back and forth in short spurts (think: “S” motion). This helps distribute the spray evenly across all areas of your yard.
Mosquito Barrier Mixing Directions:
- Shake the Mosquito Barrier container well before making a mix. For each gallon of water
- A mosquito Barrier is a concentrated mixture that can be used to repel mosquitos.
- It is easy to use and highly effective. Here’s how it works:
- A mosquito Barrier is a powder mixed with water to create a spray. The spray will not harm plants or animals, including humans and pets.
- The liquid form needs to be diluted with water before spraying,
- The amount of Mosquito barriers needed depends on how much infestation there is. If there are only a few mosquitos around, then eight teaspoons of Mosquito Barrier should do the trick;
- If there are many more than this amount present at your location, then 16 teaspoons of Mosquito Barrier should do the trick instead (6 teaspoons equals one ounce).
- For best results, treat in the early evening at dusk or later when mosquitoes are most active. Repeat every 14 days or as needed.
